The Canadian government is set to issue a range of government payments and benefits in September 2026 to eligible recipients.

The payments include programs administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Service Canada. Amounts vary depending on the program, household income and each recipient’s circumstances. Most payments are deposited directly into bank accounts or sent by cheque.

Canada Disability Benefit

Eligible people between the ages of 18 and 64 may receive the Canada Disability Benefit on a monthly basis.

The payment amount is based on adjusted family net income, with a maximum monthly payment of $204.20 in September.

The next payment is scheduled for September 17, 2026.

Starting in September, eligible recipients will also receive a one-time additional payment of $150 to help cover the cost of obtaining the Disability Tax Credit.

Canada Child Benefit

The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is paid monthly by the Canada Revenue Agency to eligible families with children under 18.

The benefit is tax-free, and the amount depends on the number and ages of the children, as well as family income.

Eligible families may receive up to $679.75 per month for each child under age 6, and up to $573.58 per month for each child aged 6 to 17.

The next payment is scheduled for September 18, 2026.

Old Age Security

The Old Age Security (OAS) pension is paid monthly to eligible Canadians aged 65 and older. Payments may also include the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) for those who qualify.

The amount depends on factors such as age, income and the length of time the recipient has lived in Canada.

The maximum monthly payment in September is $751.97 for people aged 65 to 74, increasing to $827.17 for those aged 75 and older.

The next payment is scheduled for September 25, 2026.

Canada Pension Plan

The government also provides monthly Canada Pension Plan (CPP) payments to eligible recipients.

The amount depends on the age when the pension begins, the amount and length of contributions, and earnings during the recipient’s working years.

In 2026, the maximum monthly CPP payment at age 65 is approximately $1,507.65, while the average monthly payment for new recipients starting at age 65 is about $877.01.

The next payment is scheduled for September 25, 2026.

Veterans’ Benefits

The government also provides a range of tax-free monthly benefits to eligible Canadian veterans.

These include pain and suffering compensation and disability benefits. In September, pain and suffering compensation ranges from $70.99 to $1,419.82, while disability benefit amounts vary depending on the recipient’s circumstances and whether they have a spouse or children.

Veterans’ benefit payments are scheduled for September 28, 2026.

Payment Amounts Vary

The amount received under these programs depends on eligibility, income, age, family size and individual circumstances. As a result, not all recipients will receive the maximum amounts listed above.
