Some eligible أونتاريو residents are expecting a new Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) payment on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The benefit amount increased by 2% in 2026 to help keep pace with inflation and rising living costs, following a 2.7% increase in 2025.
The Ontario Trillium Benefit is a tax-free payment that combines three major provincial credits into a single benefit:
- The Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit.
- The Northern Ontario Energy Credit.
- The Ontario Sales Tax Credit.
The amount each recipient receives varies depending on factors such as income, family status, place of residence and eligibility requirements.
Key Credit Amounts
Eligible residents can receive up to C$1,307 per year through the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit. The Northern Ontario Energy Credit provides up to C$189 for individuals and C$290 for families.
The Ontario Sales Tax Credit can provide up to C$378 per year, with additional amounts potentially available for an eligible spouse or common-law partner and dependent children.
