The Minister of Migration discusses with the Jordanian Minister of Interior the situation of Iraqis and the issues of migration and asylum.
The Minister of Migration and Displacement, Ms. Evan Faeq Jabro, met with the Jordanian Minister of Interior, Mr. Mazen Al-Faraya, in the capital, Amman, during her official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The visit comes as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Mr. Omar Al-Barzanji, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Jordan, along with a number of officials from the Ministry.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two ministries in areas of mutual interest, foremost among them issues related to migration and asylum, as well as the conditions of Iraqi citizens residing in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
In this context, both sides emphasized the need to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Migration and Displacement and the Jordanian Ministry of Interior, focusing on supporting Iraqi refugees, providing necessary services, assistance, and support, as well as implementing voluntary return programs for Iraqis. The memorandum would also outline prospects for joint bilateral cooperation between the two ministries in a manner that serves the public interest.
