The Minister Ahmed Hussen, announced today, July 30th, a $9.3 million investment in funds to support the Windsor-Essex housing project.
Windsor Mayor Drew Delikens and Windsor – Tecumseh Member of Parliament Irek Kusmierczyk expressed their excitement for the initiative.
“This funding will support the rapid creation of over 35 new affordable housing units in the city of Windsor” Minister Ahmed Hussen.
This project will focus on those in unstable housing situations, including those who are homeless, as well as those who are at risk of becoming homeless.
These 35 homes in the city of Windsor must be completed in Twelve months or less, which implies that in Twelve months or less, vulnerable people in Windsor will be able to move into these homes and have a safe living environment.
Mayor Dilkens says. “This is the largest investment first investment in 30 years in a affordable housing in the city if you could see the amazing work that is going on here but this is just part of the story of the minister talking about $90 million investment with respect to the repair renewal project that is underway which ironically if your watcher of City Council that $90 million from federal government will help unlock another $80 million for a total of $170 million to help repair and renew affordable social housing in Windsor and Essex County.”
