The daughter of two Toronto billionaires who were slain in their home five years ago in a murder that remains unsolved is speaking out ahead of the anniversary of the crime, imploring anyone with information to help solve the killings<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement released Thursday, Alexandra Krawczyk \u2014 one of the couple\u2019s four children \u2014 said justice has so far been elusive for her family and her heart remains \u201cbroken\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFive years ago, on Dec. 13, 2017, my beloved parents, Honey and Barry Sherman, were brutally murdered in their Toronto home. So far there has been no justice for them and no closure for me and my family,\u201d Krawczyk wrote<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy heart is broken. My loss is immeasurable. My children have lost their grandparents. We miss their guidance, love, and wisdom\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said the family is releasing the appeal for information because \u201cwe cannot let another year pass without justice being done\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honey and Barry Sherman were found dead in their Old Colony Road home on Dec. 15, 2017. A realtor who was showing the home to prospective buyers found their bodies and called police<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two were found in a \u201csemi-seated\u201d position in the pool area in the basement, with black belts looped around their necks and attached to a railing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police have said they believe the couple was murdered two days before they were found<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barry Sherman was the founder of generic pharmaceutical giant Apotex and the two were well-known philanthropists in the community<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their deaths shocked the city and sparked a police investigation that remains ongoing. But there have been few breakthroughs announced<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former police chief Mark Saunders told CP24 in 2018 that police were \u201caggressively\u201d looking at \u201can international lens\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A year ago,\u00a0police released surveillance footage of a suspect<\/a>\u00a0seen near the Sherman home around the time of the murders whose behaviour was deemed \u201chighly suspicious.\u201d Police said they were releasing the footage in the hopes that someone might be able to help identify the suspect<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krawczyk said that while the family has been traumatized by the murder of the couple, their killings have also hurt the community which they worked hard to give back to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith kindness and humility, my parents provided leadership and unbound generosity to charities across Canada and around the world,\u201d she wrote. \u201cTheir dedication to service and philanthropy impacted many people, some of whom have shared their beautiful and inspiring stories with me<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe horrific manner in which they were taken from us has been extremely traumatic and has irreparably damaged the fabric of our community\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She implored anyone with information that may help solve the killings to come forward<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToronto Police Service Homicide Unit continues to pursue its ongoing and active investigation. The $10 million reward for information leading to a conviction remains available and is still unclaimed,\u201d Krawczyk said. \u201cIf you have any information about the murders of my parents, I urge you to please contact the Toronto Police Service at\u00a0shermantips@torontopolice.on.ca<\/a>. Your information is urgently needed to help solve this crime and bring those responsible to justice\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
