WHEATLEY, ONTARIO \u2014 The Solicitor General of the Province of Ontario said that a three-person injury investigation was initiated following an explosion in Wheatley, Ont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The explosion occurred at the intersection of Erie and Talbot Streets about 6 p.m. on Thursday, according to local authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two buildings in the downtown area have been severely damaged and houses and businesses have been evacuated in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers said that they were called to the location at around 4:30 p.m. on a site alert by gas monitoring devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first responders evacuated the buildings and evacuated a larger area before the explosion took place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The explosion happened at a site where sulphide hydrogen gas was initially detected in June, which led to evacuation and state of emergency declarations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In July, after verifying that hydrogen sulphide was again found on Erie 15 St. North, the town was issued a second state of emergency, and It remained in effect during this emergency.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
