Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday that King Charles III had been admitted to hospital for observation after experiencing temporary side effects related to his ongoing cancer treatment
In a statement, the palace indicated that all of his scheduled engagements for Thursday and Friday had been cancelled
The statement read: “His Majesty has now returned to his residence at Clarence House. As a precaution, and on medical advice, his schedule for tomorrow will also be rescheduled.”
The king expressed his “apologies to all those affected or disappointed as a result.”
It is worth noting that King Charles, 76, has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer for more than a year
Despite this, he has continued to carry out his official duties, including reviewing government files and holding meetings with the Prime Minister, but has stepped back from some public activities
