In an important visit, His Eminence Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim met with His Beatitude Cardinal Louis Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the World. The meeting addressed several key issues related to religious diversity and community components in Iraq, as well as the political developments in the region
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Hussam Al-Husseini, a member of the political bureau and the head of the Diversity and Christian Component Rights Department. In this context, they emphasized the importance of empowering the Christian community in Iraq, supporting them, rebuilding their regions, and compensating them for the suffering they endured due to terrorism. It was also stressed that Christians represent a qualitative addition to Iraqi society and are a source of enrichment for it
Regarding the regional situation, the focus was placed on the importance of shielding Iraq from the effects of regional crises and the need to maintain national unity and social cohesion. The necessity of enhancing security and military readiness to ensure Iraq’s stability amid these developments was also emphasized
Both parties expressed their mutual commitment to work towards strengthening diversity and peaceful coexistence among the various communities in Iraq
