Authorities have warned of the possibility of water pooling and flooding on some roads, which could affect traffic.
Accumulated rainfall is expected to range between 30 and 40 millimetres by the end of the day.
Meteorologist Bill Coulter said the start of the workweek will be unsettled, adding that showers and thunderstorms could continue throughout the daytime hours.
The high temperature in Toronto is expected to reach 24°C, but it may feel closer to 29°C due to the humidity.
High Humidity on Tuesday and Wednesday
The forecast calls for continued humid conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the humidex potentially reaching levels close to 40°C on both days.
Some showers are possible on Thursday before conditions gradually improve.
A dry and sunny long weekend is expected from Friday through Sunday.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to remain in the mid-20s, with only limited chances of rain during the holiday weekend.
