As construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge moves forward, new job opportunities are becoming available. Bridging North America (BNA), the private-sector partner responsible for building and maintaining the bridge, has announced three new positions that officials say will help support the long-term operation of the massive infrastructure project
They say these jobs provide an opportunity for local talent to be part of one of the most significant infrastructure projects in North America, enhancing connectivity between Windsor and Detroit while fostering economic growth in the region
“2025 is going to be a very exciting year for the Gordie Howe International Bridge,” exclaimed Detroit Bridge Authority Chief Relations Officer Heather Grondin. “Even before construction is done, some of these people will begin working. We need to ensure that when day-one comes after we’ve cut the ribbon, that everything is working well, and we need to start bringing some of the people on now to start doing that work to get us ready for operations.”
The Gordie Howe International Bridge project has already provided thousands of construction jobs, and as it nears completion, long-term positions in operations, security, and customer service are beginning to emerge. Grondin said these new job opportunities are just the beginning of the lasting economic impact the bridge will have on the Windsor-Essex region
“It might look like it’s done, but it’s not,” Grondin said. “We’re still working on the electrical system, the fire suppression system, the drainage systems. So all of that work will continue over the spring and into the summer…Lots of work going on right now at our tolling area here at the Canadian Port of Entry. And a lot of, again, the systems and processes. So, we need to make sure that when someone goes through the toll booth that there’s communication into the toll management system that accounts are charged properly.”

Customer Service Representative Manager
Lead Security Officer
While just three new jobs have been listed so far, Grondin said more are on the way, but noted officials don’t have a final estimate on how many positions will need to eventually be filled
“Bridging North America has set up a page on Indeed where they’re going to be posting all of their jobs, as well we are posting them on our social media channels,” Grondin explained. “Customer service, customer engagement, landscaping, road management, really just kind of those general skills that people may see at any of the border crossings.”
In the meantime, excitement over the new job positions is growing at the UHC – Hub of Opportunities
“We are really excited these jobs are here,” said CEO June Muir
“I’m not sure what the pay scale would be, but I’m sure that it’s going to be a living wage and that’s what people want,” Muir continued. “And this is going to be really exciting for a lot of our clients. So we’ll make sure that we blast it out and we get the information to all of our clients. We’ll post it on our job boards, we’re really excited and want to hear more as these jobs come to our area.”
